“Steel Magnolias”
by Robert Harling

Set within a Louisiana beauty parlor, the show revolves around the lives, and the trials and
tribulations of six women who work in, or frequent the salon. Billed as “the funniest play to ever
make you cry” ‘Steel Magnolias’ was first presented Off-Broadway in 1987 to strong reviews and
subsequently made into a popular and well-received movie in 1989 starring Shirley MacLaine,
Julia Roberts, Sally Field and Dolly Parton among others. While the movie introduced us to the
men associated with these ladies, the Play focus remains on the women and the strong,
unwavering friendship that holds them all together though both laughter and tears.

Show dates were September 28th, 29th, and 30th at Laconia High School
